Why do the costs of teeth whitening vary?
- The costs of teeth whitening vary depending on the method, the number of jaws treated and the guidance you receive. A universal whitening kit is often cheaper, but is not tailored to the shape and health of your teeth. At Loef Mondzorg we work with professional whitening gel and custom-made trays. The price is determined by, among other things:
- The intake and check-up of your teeth
- Making the whitening trays
- The amount of professional whitening gel
- The explanation and guidance
- The number of jaws treated. During your appointment we clearly discuss what is included in the treatment. For a complete overview of current dental fees, please refer to the website of the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa).
What do you get for the cost of teeth whitening?
For €328.14 you receive a complete whitening treatment for the upper and lower jaw. We first check whether your teeth and gums are healthy enough to whiten safely.
We then take an accurate impression of your teeth. Based on this, we make whitening trays that fit your teeth well. Once they are ready, we show you how much gel to use and how to insert the trays correctly.
You then take the whitening trays and gel home and carry out the treatment according to our instructions.
Treatment process
How does teeth whitening work at Loef Mondzorg?
At Loef Mondzorg you whiten your teeth at home with a professional gel and personal whitening trays. The treatment consists of several steps:
-
01
Check-up of your teeth
We assess whether your teeth and gums are healthy enough for the treatment.
-
02
Impression of your teeth
We take an accurate impression for well-fitting whitening trays.
-
03
Explanation and instructions
We show you how much gel you need and how to use the trays.
-
04
Whitening at home
You wear the whitening trays for the agreed period. We often advise five days, about two hours a day.
-
05
Assessing the result
The final result is usually clearly visible after one to two weeks.
Why is professional teeth whitening more expensive than a whitening kit?
Professional teeth whitening is more expensive because the treatment is tailored to your teeth and takes place under dental supervision. We check in advance whether whitening is safe and make trays that fit your teeth exactly.
A standard whitening kit does not take into account cavities, leaking fillings, sensitive gums or the cause of the discolouration. With professional guidance we reduce the risk of irritation and incorrect use.
Why choose teeth whitening with Loef Mondzorg in Rotterdam?
When you choose Loef Mondzorg, you can count on:

- Whitening trays that fit your teeth exactly
- Professional whitening gel
- Clear explanation of safe use
- Personal guidance if you have questions or sensitivity
- An easily accessible practice in Rotterdam city centre
We aim for a fresh and natural result that suits your teeth and appearance.
Is teeth whitening covered by insurance?
Teeth whitening is usually not covered by the basic health insurance, as it is a cosmetic treatment. Supplementary dental insurance often does not cover the treatment either.
The exact coverage depends on your policy. We therefore advise you to check your insurance conditions in advance.
Are there additional costs after the treatment?
After the first whitening treatment, additional costs may arise if you later need new whitening gel or if a whitening tray needs to be replaced. In addition, your existing crowns, veneers and fillings do not whiten along with your teeth.
If these restorations no longer match the colour of your natural teeth after whitening, replacement may be needed. We discuss in advance whether this is a point of attention in your situation.
How do you maintain the result after whitening?
- You keep the result longer by limiting products that cause discolouration. Especially during the whitening period, your teeth are more sensitive to colourants. We advise you to be careful for a while with:
- Coffee and tea
- Red wine
- Coloured soft drinks
- Red sauces
- Smoking. Also brush twice a day and clean between your teeth daily.
