What makes up the cost of veneers?
The price per veneer depends on the material and on the preparation your tooth needs. We apply composite directly in one session, whereas porcelain requires an impression and a custom-made shell. Each treatment step has its own NZa service code. Together, these elements determine the amount on your invoice:
- The intake consultation and dental check-up
- The number of teeth we treat
- The choice between composite and porcelain
- Grinding and preparing your tooth
- The laboratory costs for porcelain veneers
Our fees page lists every fee per service code. For a complete overview of current dental fees, please refer to the website of the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa).
What do you get for this fee?
For the fee per veneer, you receive a treatment that we fully tailor to your own tooth. We first assess the colour and position of your teeth. Then together we choose the material and shade that suit your face. With composite, we model the shell directly on your tooth, and you leave the practice the same day with a new smile. For porcelain, we take an impression and place the final shell during a second appointment, about two weeks later.
Treatment process
How does the placement of veneers work?
At Loef Mondzorg, placing veneers follows fixed steps. For each step you know which service code will appear on your invoice:
-
01
Intake consultation and dental check-up
We assess your teeth and gums and discuss the result you have in mind. This intake falls under code C001 with a fee of €57.01.
-
02
Mock-up for multiple teeth
If we treat your entire front teeth, we first make a mock-up. This lets you see the intended result before we prepare your teeth.
-
03
Preparing the tooth
We grind away a thin layer of enamel so the shell fits precisely. On request, our dentist numbs the tooth, for which code A10 at €18.75 applies.
-
04
Placing the veneer
With composite, we model and polish the shell in the same session. Porcelain veneers are bonded with a strong adhesive after the laboratory has custom-made them.
-
05
Checking colour and bite
We check the colour and the bite and finish the edges until the shell feels natural.
How does porcelain differ from composite?
Porcelain veneers cost more because a dental technician custom-makes each shell in a laboratory. These laboratory costs are separate from the NZa fee and appear as a separate amount on your invoice.
We apply composite directly in the practice, without laboratory costs. As a result, you pay less per tooth, whereas porcelain lasts longer and resists stains better.
Getting veneers in Rotterdam city centre
If you choose veneers at Loef Mondzorg, you can count on:
- An extensive intake beforehand
- Dentists experienced in cosmetic dentistry
- A mock-up for multiple veneers
- Digital scans of your teeth
- Fixed NZa fees with no surprises afterwards
- A practice next to Rotterdam Central Station
We keep the shape and shade close to your own teeth, so the result stays natural.
Does your insurance cover veneers?
The basic health insurance does not cover veneers, as it is a cosmetic treatment. Supplementary dental insurance sometimes covers part of the costs when a veneer restores a damaged tooth.
Your policy determines the exact coverage. We therefore advise you to contact your health insurer in advance.
What costs follow later?
Veneers require maintenance over time. A composite veneer lasts five to seven years on average, a porcelain veneer ten to fifteen years.
If an edge comes loose or the composite discolours, we touch up the shell. Replacing a porcelain shell falls under code R71 with a fee of €82.52.
How do you keep your veneers looking good?
Good oral care extends the life of your veneers. We advise you to be careful with:
- Hard nuts and ice cubes
- Sticky sweets
- Nail biting and chewing pens
- Smoking
- Grinding without a night guard
Brush twice a day with a soft brush and clean between your teeth daily. If you grind your teeth, we make a custom night guard.
